Cubic has been awarded a contract for the supply of P5 combat training system/ combat training system (P5CTS/TCTS) to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
Under the terms of $20m contract, the company will supply the fifth generation air combat manoeuvring instrumentation (ACMI) P5 system.

Cubic Defense Applications president Dave Schmitz said: "With this contract, Cubic’s P5 TCTS will equip all Air Combat Group aircraft with the latest Air Combat Training System.
"With our technology, we enable the Royal Australian Air Force to further enhance debriefs at large training exercises, such as Pitch Black and Talisman Sabre that are vital to ensure combat readiness and mission success."
The P5 TCTS is currently used for training on the RAAF’s F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft.
Meanwhile, the contract would allow for use of P5 TCTS on three additional RAAF aircraft, including MK-127 Hawk, F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet and the F/A-18G Growler.

By GlobalDataThe fifth-generation P5 combat trainer has been developed by Cubic Defense Applications and principal subcontractor, DRS Technologies. It provides real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat missions by recording mission data, and relay time, as well as space and positioning information between participating aircraft during training sorties.
The GPS-enabled aircraft-mounted airborne instrumentation packages and ground stations will help aircrew to conduct, monitor and control air combat training and post-flight debriefing. It will also give it the flexibility to carry out, anywhere, anytime training capabilities.
Instrumentation pods have been installed aboard a wide variety of fighter aircraft including A-10, F-5, F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 aircraft, as well as on the aircraft of supporting the US Air Force squadrons in Europe.
A number of foreign countries have also purchased the trainer, which is also being ordered by Lockheed Martin for the F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter.
Cubic did not disclose the number of systems ordered and their delivery schedule.
