Before the delivery, Terma carried out qualification tests including firing and fit-check tests of the gun pods to reduce its weight and lower cost.

During the entire F-35 production phase, Terma will deliver nearly 400 gun pods for the F-35 JSF.

A supersonic, multirole, fifth-generation stealth fighter, the F-35 will replace existing aircraft, including AV-8B Harriers, A-10s, F-16s and F/A-18 Hornets.
