Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a contract for the delivery of consolidated logistics management support (CLMS) for the US Air Force’s Space Command (AFSPC).

Awarded by the USAF’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Space Logistics Directorate (SL), the single-award task order includes a seven-month performance period, with two option years and a maximum potential value of approximately $36m, if all options are exercised.

Under the terms of contract, the company will deliver a wide range of CLMS services, which includes initial engineering technical analysis, project planning, project budgeting analysis, and coordination support.

SAIC will also provide core sustainment support, logistics support analysis and immediate technical assistance for several space weapon system programmes, such as the space based infrared system (SBIRS), military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) and the defense meteorological satellite program (DMSP).

A significant component of AFSPC, the SMC serves as the centre of technical excellence for research, development and purchase of military space systems, and is also responsible for on-orbit, check-out testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense (DoD) space systems.

The SL Directorate operates the Space Logistics Readiness Center, and also serves as the SMC’s central point for logistics, maintenance, supply, and sustaining engineering policy and processes.

The contract has been awarded under the SMC Technical Services (STS) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) vehicle, and work will be primarily carried out at SAIC’s facility in Colorado Springs, US.
