Raytheon has demonstrated the multiple ballistic targets tracking capability of its multispectral targeting system-B (MTS) at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii, US.

The test was conducted in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) airborne infrared programme (ABIR) requirement for a forward deployed airborne sensor to counter ballistic missile threats.

During the test, four MTS-B electro-optical infrared sensors accurately tracked multiple targets and transferred the information to two airborne processors for post-test analysis.

The airborne processors provided a precise line-of-sight to targets while displaying automated closed-loop tracking.

The MTS-B provides long-range surveillance, target acquisition, tracking and laser designation of the Hellfire missile for the US Air Force (USAF) Predator B and other aircraft worldwide.
