Israeli Ministry of Defence Director General Udi Shani has signed a letter of offer and acceptance with Lockheed Martin for the procurement of F-35 aircraft.

The agreement follows the Israeli Government’s decision to select the Lockheed F-35 Lightning II as the Israel Air Force’s next-generation fighter aircraft.

Under the agreement, Israel will be the first country to receive the F-35 through the US Government’s foreign military sales process.

A fifth-generation fighter, the F-35 Lightning II combines advanced stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network-enabled operations and advanced sustainment.

Lockheed is jointly developing the F-35 with its partners, Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems.
