The Indian Air Force (IAF) will begin field evaluation trials of Hawker Beechcraft Corporation’s (HBC) T-6C military trainer aircraft today at Air Force Station Jamnagar in India.

The IAF will initially acquire 75 trainer aircraft with options to acquire 100 such aircraft to replace its HPT-32 Deepak 2 trainer.

During the five-day evaluation trial, there will be flights by the IAF test and instructor pilots, as well as demonstrations of the T-6C’s maintainability.

The T-6C aircraft includes an integrated glass cockpit and an advanced avionics suite that significantly increases advanced training opportunities.

The aircraft also includes a head-up display, up-front control panel, three multifunction displays and hands-on throttle and stick controls.

Equipped with a hardpoint wing, the T-6C aircraft can accommodate external fuel tanks.
