The Australian Defence Force (ADF), in a joint operation with AusAID, has sent a medical team to Pakistan to provide immediate medical and healthcare services to flood-affected people.

The team, called the joint inter-agency medical task force (JIAMTF) and comprising doctors, nurses, paramedics and support personnel, departed from RAAF Amberley in Queensland.

The ADF used its strategic airlift aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster, to move the contingent from Brisbane to Multan International Air Field in Pakistan.

The JIAMTF will establish a medical facility near Kot Addu in Multan.
