Nato has sent an aircraft to Pakistan to conduct humanitarian relief missions in the flood-affected country.

A trainer cargo aircraft of the Nato airborne early warning and control force (AWACS) will transport relief goods donated by Slovakia.

The aircraft, carrying goods including power generators, water pumps and tents, took off from the Geilenkirchen Air Base in Germany, bound for Islamabad.

The aircraft was sent in response to a request by the Pakistani Government to airlift aid donated by nations and humanitarian relief organisations.
