The UK Department for International Development (DFID) has called in a Royal Air Force (RAF) C-17 aircraft to assist with the supply of flood relief in Pakistan.

The C-17 will carry tents and other supplies from a UN store in Dubai to Peshawar in Pakistan as part of the mission.

Based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, the C-17 can carry 73,800kg of freight and 138 personnel over ranges up to 8,300km.

It is already providing vital logistic support, ferrying supplies and personnel in aid of UK operations in Afghanistan.
