The Indian Air Force (IAF) has lost 61 aircraft and helicopter due to accidents, killing 28 pilots, from 2006 to 2010. Defence Minister AK Antony provided this information in a written reply to the Indian Parliament. The minister said the air force had aircraft of varying ages
The minister said the air force had aircraft of varying ages on its inventory that were thoroughly checked and properly maintained by a qualified team of engineers and technicians.
“No aircraft is offered for flight unless it has passed all checks and is fully fit for flying,” he said.
