Talks have been resumed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the acquisition of a South Korean built T-50 jet trainer following failed negotiations to purchase Italy’s M-346 trainer.

In February 2009, the UAE selected Alenia Aermacchi’s M-346 for an order of 48 aircraft including 20 light fighter versions.

But negotiations to acquire the €1bn ($1.4bn) Italian aircraft stalled due to a misunderstanding between the parties over specifications, according to
