The Finnish Air Force has received three upgraded F-18 Weapons Tactics and Situational Awareness Training Systems (WTSAT) from Boeing.
The F-18s have been upgraded to train for aerial refuelling and offer long-haul networking capacity to allow the systems to link over a wide area network.
The systems will also enable the air force to engage in shared training sessions with fighters at other sites and fly virtual missions together through a high-level architecture that allows simulation devices to communicate and share data over the network.
The WTSAT includes a simulated head-up display, three debrief stations (DBS), an upgraded flight programme simulation and enhanced instructor-operator station capabilities.
Three deployable tactics trainers where also delivered as part of the contract in December 2007.
