The US Air Force will procure more P5 combat training systems / tactical combat training systems (P5 CTS/TCTS) worth $43.9m for its squadrons in UK, Germany and Italy.
The production, testing and fielding of the pods on aircraft, to include the F-15, F-16, FA-18 and AV-8B will be done by US firm DRS Technologies.
The air crews outside the continental US will acquire these P5 pods for the first time.
The mounted P5 pods will record mission data, relay time, space and positioning information between participating aircraft during the air combat training exercises.
It also supports real time weapon simulations, and provides ‘kill’ notification to affected aircrews.
The data recorded by this system is replayed on the ground station consoles that help aircrews review their performance in order to fine tune their combat skills.
Poland and Singapore are the first international users of P5 CTS/TCTS.
