The Indian Air Force (IAF) has decided to procure Su-30MKI aircraft and Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) for induction into the IAF fleet, Indian Defence Minister AK Antony has said.
The aircraft procurement programme involves a mix of direct foreign purchase and subsequent manufacture in India with increasing levels of indigenisation.

The IAF Su-30MKI aircraft, and the Tejas LCA, are already under production with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
HAL will also manufacture the medium multirole combat aircraft (MMRCA) and fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) planned for induction into the IAF.
The total cost of procurement of the Su-30MKI is estimated at over $12.12bn while the Tejas LCA procurement cost is about $1.89bn.
