The US Air Force (USAF) has received two additional Lockheed Martin F-35As – designated AF-10 and AF-11 – at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, US.

The delivery of the production model conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variants marks the ninth and tenth F-35 contractual deliveries of 2011.

The delivery follows the F-35 Joint Program Office authorisation of return to flight operations for F-35 production aircraft.

The USAF will use the pair of jets for training pilots and maintainers at the new F-35 Integrated Training Center at Eglin.

The F-35 Lightning II advanced multirole fighter integrates very low observable stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network-enabled operations and reduced sustainment costs.

The F-35 features supersonic launch of internal air-to-air missiles at a speed of Mach 1.6 and unique situational awareness with exceptional networking capability.
