Panasonic Solutions Company (PSC) Toughbook mobile computers have been selected by the US Air Force (USAF) for its rugged mobile computing requirements, including flightline, maintenance, mission, and support activities.

The USAF purchased the Toughbook 31 notebooks and Toughbook 19 convertible tablets as part of the air force quantum enterprise buy (QEB) programme.

The USAF will include both variants in the QEB programme, effective immediately and ending 31 December 2011.

The computers will be delivered by Intelligent Decisions, according to Military & Aerospace Electronics.

The mobile computers feature all-weather design, daylight-readable touchscreens and wireless connectivity, rendering them suitable for applications including battlefield monitoring, mission planning, flightline maintenance and temporary duty assignments.
