The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force and Air Defence has received a third C-17 Globemaster III airlifter from Boeing.
UAE Air Force and Air Defence officer Commanding Colonel Pilot Humaid Al Mansoori said they had chosen the C-17 Globemaster III airlifter for its adaptability and reliability.
“The first two C-17s delivered to the UAE Air Force and Air Defence have been flying around the world in support of humanitarian missions,” he added.
The C-17 airlifter can transport large payloads without refuelling and can operate in rough weather.
The airlifter flies 2,400nm and can land on runways as short as 3,000ft.
The UAE Air Force and Air Defence, which received its first C-17 in May, has contracted Boeing to deliver a fourth C-17 to the UAE later in 2011 and two more in 2012.
