Russia’s Rosvertol helicopter producer is currently in discussions with Algeria to export its night-capable Mi-28NE helicopter, according to Rosvertol General Director Boris Slyusar.

“A commercial proposal has already been sent [to Algiers] and discussions will begin this year. We hope to sign a contract for delivery in 2012-2017,” he added.

The proposed deal will be the second export sale to Algeria, which already operates the Mi-25, an export derivative of the Russian forces Mi-24 attack helicopter, according to RIA Novosti.

The Mi-28NE is a two-seat attack helicopter, equipped with mast-mounted millimetre-wave fire control radar, advanced night vision optical systems and the Ataka anti-armour missile system.
