Raytheon Technical Services (RTSC) has been awarded a US Air Force (USAF) Cobra Dane radar systems contract by the USAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency.

Under the $65m contract, the company will provide services for maintenance operations, radar sustainment, systems engineering, and integrated logistics support.

The AN/FPS-108 Cobra Dane radar system was introduced in 1977 and has undergone hardware and software modernisation for an extended operational life of more than 15 years.

The radar system is a key platform that supports USAF and Missile Defense Agency missions and operations.

Work under the contract will end on 30 December 2015 if all options are exercised.
