Goodrich has been awarded a contract to deliver two upgraded senior year electro-optical reconnaissance sensors (SYERS) to the US Air Force (USAF) for use on U-2 aircraft.

The SYERS-2A upgrade will enhance the U-2 functionality with further multispectral imaging capability, providing more utility in discerning imagery.

The multispectral sensors will capture images at specific frequencies across the electromagnetic spectrum that are not obvious to the human eye for threat analysis on the ground.

The SYERS sensor flown on the U-2 intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platform is operated by the 9th Reconnaissance Wing of USAF.
