The Yemeni Air Force (YAF) has received four Bell utility helicopters from the US.

The US delivered the helicopters under a $27m contract signed with Yemen, which included training, spare parts, tools, support and transportation.

The first six YAF pilots began Huey training at a Bell Helicopter facility in Texas, US, in November 2010.

The pilots used one of the actual helicopters for the flying portion of the training and the helicopter was later sent to Yemen.

Bell trained a total of 12 pilots and 20 maintenance personnel in the operations of the new YAF Huey II aircraft.
