The Kazakh Air Force is to use the Yakovlev Yak-130 pilot training aircraft from early next year, as per an agreement signed between Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov and his Russian counterpart, Anatoly Serdyukov.

The two countries are due to sign a bilateral cooperation plan for 2011.

The first flights will be for personnel to familiarise themselves with the aircraft, according to RIA Novosti.

The Yakovlev Yak-130 is a subsonic two-seat advanced jet trainer / light attack aircraft developed by Yakovlev design bureau.

The Yak-130 is able to replicate the characteristics of fourth-generation fighters as well as the fifth-generation Sukhoi T-50.

It can also perform light attack and reconnaissance duties.
