Selex ES RF Seekers Supply Chain Welcomes UAE’s Tawazun Precision Industries
UAE-based subsidiary of Tawazun Holding, Tawazun Precision lndustries (TPI) has entered into a supply agreement with Selex ES for the manufacture of various components related to Selex ES’s RF Seekers, a fundamental component in the MBDA Italy Marte/Otomat missile line.
Selex ES has been a partner of MBDA Italy since the birth of the Marte/Otomat anti-ship missiles. The company is currently providing the seeker for these missiles as part of MBDA Italy’s contract to supply the new ship-launched version of Marte/Otomat to be installed on the UAE’s new Ghannatha-class littoral patrol boats.
The contract between Selex ES and TPI, supported by MBDA Italy, is the first step towards further collaboration in the future. By manufacturing complex machined parts for Selex ES’s SM-1S and ST-2S seekers, TPI will acquire specific expertise in RF seeker production that will pave the way for further joint business opportunities in both the UAE and abroad. In the near future, the deal will allow the two companies to consider extending the collaboration to any future evolutions of the Marte seeker family.
"This partnership further confirms the significant technological and industrial capability achieved by TPI, allowing us to engage in special processes such as those for RF components. It is yet another testimony from a large company that we are becoming a trusted player in the global defence market.
We are delighted to enter into a partnership with a leading company in defence Electronics such as Selex ES and look forward to many more joint successes to come," said of Muatassem Awda, CEO of Tawazun Precision Industries.
Also commenting on this new development, Gianpiero Lorandi Group executive director of marketing, sales and business development of Selex ES said: "We are confident that TPI’s extraordinary level of capability is the key factor that will help us to continue our commitment to Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and to support the growth of a strong industrial base in the country."
