The US Air Force will receive electrical systems from engineering firm Cavotec MSL during maintenance operations of F-22 fighter aircraft.

The company says that it will provide a range of in-ground electrical systems to power fifth generation multirole fighter aircraft including several 480V, 120V, and 270V DC pop-up pedestal units.

These units will be embedded into the floor of a new hangar at the USAF base at Elmendorf, the workplace for maintenance operations.

The electrical systems designed by Cavotec in association with the US Corps of Engineers allow the aircraft to remain switched on while maintenance crews conduct their work.

The company is expected to start the delivery of these systems by later this year and continue till early 2010.
Cavotec equipment is already providing electrical services for the maintenance of C-17 Galaxy transport aircraft at the USAF base.
