Commenting on the system, Kongsberg Defence Systems executive vice president Eirik Lie said the NASAMS II represents a critical part of Norway’s air and ground protection.

"’NASAMS is the most sold air defence system in Nato, where Norway, with its experience and expertise, is a leading air-defence nation," Lie added.

Jointly manufactured by Kongsberg and Raytheon, the NASAMS II is a module-based, distributed and netted medium range air-defence system designed for quick identification and destruction of existing and emerging enemy aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or cruise missile threats.
