Elbit Systems of America has secured a contract to develop panoramic cockpit display units for the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft.

The deal was awarded by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

The development contract for the Technology Refresh 3, panoramic cockpit display unit is said to expand Elbit’s work on the F-35, which already provides power amplifiers, structures, and sustainment work for the aircraft.

Elbit Systems of America, along with Rockwell Collins, also supplies the F-35 helmet-mounted display system, through their joint venture (JV) Rockwell Collins ESA Vision Systems (RCEVS).

Elbit Systems of America is involved in the delivery of advanced cockpit and intelligent pilot interface solutions that help improve situational awareness and mission effectiveness.  

The company also provides configurable slim design, lightweight displays in a variety of sizes with intuitive user interface and high-definition touch screens, smart displays, and high-definition head-up displays. It also supplies full night vision goggle capabilities and virtual embedded training capabilities.

The F-35 Lightning II fighter jet has been designed to perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and electronic attack missions.

It is capable of defeating advanced threat systems both in the air and on the ground.
