Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 35%, emerged as the top 3D printing-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings drop by 21% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q1 2023, with new job postings dropping by 65% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent 3D printing roles include Management Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2023, Production Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 70% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Raytheon Technologies, Relativity Space, Leidos, Blue Origin, and Northrop Grumman. Together they accounted for a combined share of 70% of all 3D printing-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.

Raytheon Technologies posted 606 3D printing-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Relativity Space 84 jobs, Leidos 75 jobs, Blue Origin 56 jobs, and Northrop Grumman 52 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 85.65% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023

The largest share of 3D printing-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 85.65% followed by Canada (2.98%) and Mexico (2.50%). The share represented by the US was 20 percentage points higher than the 65.49% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
