The recent demonstrations allowed the Department of Defence and other stakeholders to understand the way OCX automates many tasks that result in less error opportunities and high operational tempo for delivering military and other applications.

Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services president Dave Wajsgras said: "These successful demonstrations incorporating actual GPS OCX software reflect Raytheon’s significant and continuing progress on this programme and the growing maturity of this very complex system.

The OCX demonstrated its capabilities, including the new high-power, jam-resistant military signal known as M-Code, along with the system’s unprecedented cyber automation, detection and response capabilities.

Currently, Raytheon is installing the Block 0 Launch and Checkout System (LCS) hardware at Shriever Air Force Base. The firm delivered the first operational hardware in May this year.

LCS is a subset of the fuller OCX ground system. It is aimed to establish the cyber-hardened infrastructure to which additional mission applications will be added.

The LCS is currently in the qualification test phase and expected to be ready for delivery in mid-2016.

The Schriever base will be serving as the home for the new GPS OCX Master Control Station.
