Rockwell Collins has received a contract from Boeing to deliver avionics service and support for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) fleet of 15 CH-147F Chinook helicopters.

The RCAF’s CH-147F helicopters, which were delivered in 2013 and 2014, feature Rockwell’s common avionics architecture system (CAAS) cockpit.

Under the contract, the company will offer local avionics support equipment and engineering services to the RCAF 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.

Rockwell Collins Canada vice-president and managing director Lee Obst said: “This contract continues our decades-long relationship with Boeing and furthers our commitment to bringing in-country service and support to the Canadian military.

“Under the contract Rockwell Collins will offer local avionics support equipment and engineering services to the RCAF 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.”

“Our world-class service and support personnel will ensure that the CH-147 remains sustainable and operational for the RCAF for years to come.”

The CAAS displays are designed to provide superior tactical and flight situational awareness. The system will offer this support through embedded cognitive decision aids that minimise crew workload and enhance flight safety and survivability with a high fault tolerant design.
