The US Air Force (USAF) has selected Radant Technologies for its B-52 Stratofortress long-range heavy bombers Radomes Replacement Programme undertaken by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).

Under the $45m firm-fixed price contract, the company will produce new radomes for each B-52 aircraft within the USAF fleet to improve overall performance, durability and supportability.

The new radomes will replace the existing ones and will be operational within the next 18 months.

The B-52 has recently undergone a Service Life Extension Programme to remain in service through 2040 and is used in the Middle East and other theatres of operation.

Work on the contract is expected to be performed over the next seven years.
