Hewlett-Packard (HP) has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force (USAF) to deliver business personal computers (PCs) and workstations, as part of its client, computing and servers (CCS) quantum enterprise buy (QEB) programme.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will supply an unspecified number of HP Z820 and Z420 workstations, EliteBook 8560w mobile workstations, Compaq 6005 Pro Business PCs, ProBook 6460b notebook PCs, EliteBook 2560p notebook PCs, as well as EliteBook 2760p tablet PCs to the air force.

Integrated with customised agency configurations that meet strict standards and tests for memory, audio, video and other requirements of the USAF, the systems will join the one million units of HP products, already purchased and fielded by the service across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific in the last seven years.

The HP Z820 is a dual-processor workstation designed to offer greater performance, support for up to 16 processing cores, and advanced professional graphics, while the single-processor Z420 delivers support for up to eight processing cores, and professional expandability in an accessible tool-free mini-tower form factor.

HP EliteBook 8560w mobile workstation provides robust processing power and is integrated with professional graphics solutions that have been tested to meet tough military standards for drop, vibration, dust, altitude and high temperature, and is also certified to run demanding applications.

Available in small form factor and microtower, Compaq 6005 Pro Business PCs are designed to offer secure hardware, software and firmware.

The ProBook 6460b is a 14in diagonal notebook PC, while the HP EliteBook 2560p and EliteBook 2760p are 12.5in and 12.1in diagonal PCs capable of providing advanced processors and feature 7,200 revolutions/min hard disk drives(2) and solid-state drives for extended battery run time, enhanced durability and cooler operation.
