The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale to provide avionics upgrade for five C-130H aircraft, and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support to Argentina.
Under the estimated $166m sale, Argentina has also requested for minor Class IV modifications, ground handling equipment, repair and return, spare and repair parts, support equipment, personnel training and training equipment, and other related programme support.
The proposed sale will improve the Argentine Air Force’s capability to meet current and future needs for its existing C-130 fleet and will also enhance relations between the nations.
The C-130 aircraft is used by Argentina to conduct humanitarian and Antarctic missions.
Prime contractors for the sale have not been disclosed.
