The operational hardware was delivered to Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado. The Schriever base will be serving as the home for the new GPS OCX Master Control Station.

GPS OCX programme manager Matt Gilligan said: "Delivery and testing of the hardware represents a key milestone for the OCX programme, as it supports next year’s acceptance of the OCX Launch and Checkout System for the GPS III satellites."

"GPS OCX is the ground command and control system designed to manage GPS satellites with better accuracy and precision."

The launch and checkout system (LSC) is a subset of the fuller OCX ground system. It is aimed to establish the cyber-hardened infrastructure to which additional mission applications will be added.

Gilligan added: "With hardware in place, Raytheon is positioned to complete validation and testing of critical capabilities and cyber security protections ahead of the LCS Acceptance milestone.

"LCS was established in part as a significant risk reduction effort for the programme. Raytheon is committed to a seamless transition of OCX and the capabilities it will deliver to the US Warfighter and civil and commercial users worldwide."

The Raytheon team will now install and audit the equipment along with information assurance testing.

This new delivery will also result in certification and testing of hardware prior to the next milestone in the programme in early 2016.
