India-based manufacturer of defence and homeland security technologies OIS Advanced Technology (OIS-AT) has entered a strategic partnership with France’s SAMP for the joint research and production of advanced penetrator bombs in India.
Under the agreement, the companies will conduct research on India’s customised requirements for enhancing the nation’s military capabilities.
The agreement is expected to bring the new technology to the South Asian nation, as well as opening potential avenues for development of modern weapon systems.
OIS Advanced Technology chairman and managing director Sanjay Bhandari said: "We are pleased that SAMP has agreed to support establishing a joint venture with OIS-AT to manufacturing, and research and develop a portfolio of advanced penetrator bombs in India. We believe that these also directly support and advance the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ programme."
Intended for use by the Air Forces, the penetrator bombs are capable of breaking through hardened structures.
Integrated with a precision guidance kit, and advanced weapon release technologies, the bomb ensures limited collateral damage.
