CC-130H

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group Canada has received a subcontract to support the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) CC-130 Hercules avionics optimised weapons system management (AVS OWSM) programme.

Awarded by AVS OWSM project prime contractor, Cascade Aerospace, the undisclosed contract is scheduled to extend until 2016 with options for additional tranches.

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group chief executive officer Steve Fitz-Gerald said: "The CC130 AVS OWSM subcontract win solidifies the roles of Cascade Aerospace and Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group Canada in supporting the legacy RCAF CC130 fleet."

The AVS OWSM is one of the three contracts, including the propulsion group (Prop) and primary air vehicle (PAV) OWSM, which will support RCAF’s legacy CC-130 Hercules fleet.

"The AVS OWSM contract covers the maintenance and service support for the Hercules airframe and related components."

Valued at approximately $423m, the AVS OWSM contract covers the maintenance and service support for the Hercules airframe and related components, thereby increasing operational capability and decreasing support costs.

In particular, Cascade will provide engineering services, integrated logistics support, equipment repair and overhaul services, and major third line inspection and repair for the aircraft structure and its ancillary systems.

Since 2006, Marshall Aerospace has served as the engineering subcontractor on the PAV OWSM programme.

Manufactured by Lockheed Martin, the CC-130 Hercules is a four-engine fixed-wing turboprop aircraft used for a wide range of missions, including troop transport, tactical airlift, search-and-rescue, air-to-air refuelling, and aircrew training.

Purchased in 1996, the CC-130H Hercules fleet has extensively been operated by RCAF during Operation Apollo, and also as part of the Joint Task Force-Afghanistan Air Wing in support of Operation Athena in Afghanistan.
