Kratos Defense & Security Solutions’ Defence & Rocket Support Services (DRSS) division has secured a contract to support airborne communication of SSC Pacific Code 551.

Originally awarded to Trabus Technologies team which comprises of Kratos’ DRSS division, the contract covers provision for engineering, technical and programmatic services for airborne communication and networking systems.

Additionally, it covers support services related to certification and information assurance for new development, current operations and planned upgrades.

The indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract includes two one-year option periods, which upon exercising will reach a potential value of $12.6m.

Kratos’ Military Services Business Unit vice-president Timothy Harmon said: "Kratos has a highly knowledgeable staff with extensive experience supporting engineering, design and analysis of satellite communications (SATCOM) systems.

"Kratos has a proven track record of providing advanced SATCOM solutions to the US Navy."

Besides supporting SATCOM systems, Kratos’ DRSS Division provides ballistic missile target systems, weapons systems support, engineering, design, analysis, and integration support services, including complex system and subsystem development and full lifecycle support.

Additionally, its support services include Electromagnetic Railgun, Hypersonic Systems, High Power Directed Energy Systems, Battle Force Tactical Trainer, Ship Self Defense System, Chaparral, HAWK and Avenger.

Last month, Kratos’ wholly owned subsidiary Composite Engineering secured a contract to supply additional air force subscale aerial target (AFSAT) production target aircraft for the USAF.
