Iran has plans to develop advanced electronic warfare technology for diverting enemy guided missiles, senior Iranian air defence commander Colonel Moharram Qolizadeh has said.

Fars News Agency quoted the commander as saying, "We have a project at hand that is in fact a stage ahead of jamming to ‘deceive’ the incoming missiles.

"At this stage, we disrupt transmission of data to the data processing unit of incoming missiles and reprogramme it with our own information and redirect the missile towards our desirable point," Qolizadeh added.

The advanced technology will be fitted on its air defence systems in the near future.

Iran has been mass producing crucial military equipment and systems for its armed forces.
