The Indian Air Force (IAF) has floated two requests for information (RFIs) for the procurement of airborne surveillance and reconnaissance (SAR) radars to enhance long borders security.

Press Trust of India has quoted Raytheon’s Integrated Defence Systems business manager Justin Monger as saying: "We have received two RFIs from the IAF… We have responded to them but it is very early stages of forming the requirements."

The IAF is yet to decide if it wants the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) system or the Mechanically Scanned Arrangement and Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting, and Aerial Reconnaissance (ISTAR) system.
