The UK Royal Air Force (RAF) has deployed Goodrich’s DB-110 Reconnaissance Airborne Pod for Tornado (Raptor) system for the ongoing Libyan and Afghanistan missions.

The system has been consistently providing support to the RAF in implementing the UN resolutions to protect the people of Libya.

The Raptor consists of an electro-optical infrared (EO/IR) DB-110 reconnaissance sensor, an imagery data recording system and an air-to-ground data link system.

The sensor captures real-time, long-range imagery, which is transmitted through a data link to a ground station to support tactical operations.

The RAF has a total of eight Raptor pods and operates the system on the fleet of Tornado GR.4A and GR.4 aircraft.
