The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale for the upgrade of four E-2C Hawkeye aircraft and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support to France.
Under the estimated $180m sale, France has also requested the weapon system sensor upgrades with Mode 5/S Identification Friend or Foe (IFF).
The upgrade also includes five APX-122 IFF Mode 5/S interrogator systems, five APX-123 IFF Mode 5/S transponder systems, and five ALQ-217 electronic support measure systems.
The systems will be incorporated into E-2C Hawkeye Navigation upgrade aircraft to provide France with Mode 5/S capabilities.
