Elbit Systems has secured a contract to provide satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) systems to the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD).
The two-year contract requires the company to supply dozens of ELSAT 2100 SOTM family of systems to the IMoD.
Elbit Systems Land and C4I Division general manager Yehuda (Udi) Vered said: "The SOTM contract is an important milestone in our military communication activity on the whole and in the satellite communication activity in particular.
“I trust that additional customers will follow and select our systems. The modern battlefield requires very reliable capabilities of high rate data transfer anytime, anywhere, and our SOTM communication solution meets this requirement."
The SOTM systems, which can be installed on a variety of land platforms, make high data rate broadband capabilities available to land vehicles on the move.
With advanced tracking capabilities, these systems have been designed to provide seamless communication even in difficult terrain, Elbit stated.
The ELSAT-2100 is an advanced and highly ruggedised tri-band military SOTM antenna that delivers high performance in Ka, Ku and X bands.
This system has the ability to offer continuously connected voice, video and data communications while the platform is in motion.
The interchangeable radio frequency panel sub-assemblies within the antenna facilitate conversion between X, Ka and Ku bands in the battlefield.
The 80cm-diameter antenna is fully optimised for operational efficiency in military applications, according to Elbit.
It can also maintain accurate satellite pointing, acquisition and re-acquisition, by using advanced quad tracking mechanisms with control of the azimuth, elevation and polarisation angles.
