The US Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support has awarded a $799.59m-worth ultrasound equipment supply contract to FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc.

The deal, which has a base period of five years with one five-year extension option, will cover ultrasound systems, accessories and training.

Saab AB has received an airborne surveillance systems support contract worth $22.28m from an undisclosed customer.

The deal requires Saab to provide support services for a Saab 2000 airborne early warning and control aircraft.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been contracted by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to produce beam control portion of an airborne laser weapon demonstration system.

The system can be carried in a pod installed underneath a fighter aircraft.

The AFRL plans to commence flight test of the laser weapon system aboard a fighter-sized aircraft at supersonic speeds in 2019.
