Pratt & Whitney (P&W) has received a contract from the Hellenic Air Force to supply additional F100 spare engines in support of its F-16 aircraft fleet.

Under the $33.9m contract, P&W will deliver four F100-PW-229 engine enhancement package (EEP) engines and 16 engine modules.

The F100-PW-229 EEP engines will allow the air force to lower total costs of ownership and extend the outstanding record of safety for F100-PW-229 fielded service.

The F100-PW-229 EEP will increase the engine depot inspection interval from seven to ten years and provide up to a 30% lifecycle cost reduction over the life the engine.

Pratt & Whitney will deliver the first F100-PW-229 EEP engine in December 2010.
