Saab has received a contract from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to integrate the active radar-guided beyond visual range (BVR) missile, Meteor, on Gripen fighters.

Under the Skr312m ($42m) contract, Saab will integrate Meteor with other Gripen systems, such as the radar and displays.

Under the contract, Saab will also perform test flights and test firing, whilst integrating Meteor with support and maintenance systems such as simulators and planning computers.

Meteor will have the largest no-escape zone of any air-to-air weapon that will result in a long stand-off range and high kill probability to ensure air superiority and pilot survivability.
