Lockheed Martin and Raytheon will unite to pursue the US Missile Defense Agency’s ground-based midcourse defence (GMD) development and sustainment contract.

Both companies will work jointly to develop, produce and sustain leading interceptor weapon systems for missile defence as part of the GMD contract.

As a strategic partner to Lockheed, Raytheon will provide systems engineering, development, manufacturing, testing, training and operations and sustainment at all key GMD sites.

The GMD Development and Sustainment Contract will involve development, manufacturing, test, training, operations support and sustainment support of the GMD element.

Work will be performed in Huntsville, Alabama; Fort Greely, Alaska; Eareckson Air Station, Alaska; Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado; and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
