The Italian Air Force’s C-27J Spartan Aircraft in service with 46th Air Wing at Pisa achieved 10,000 flight hours in July 2010.

The air force has acquired 12 C-27J tactical transport aircraft for carrying troops and equipment, for national and international operations.

Alenia Aeronautica has delivered the aircraft to the 46th Air Wing between 2007 and 2009.

The C-27J, which has been in service with the air force since 2008, has shown high reliability and flexibility in accomplishing missions in a demanding environment in Afghanistan.

It can carry two crew members, has a maximum speed of 602km/h and a cruising speed of 583km/h.
