Tunisia will receive upgrade support and equipment from the US to refurbish the air force’s 12 SH-60F multimission utility helicopters, under a foreign military sale agreement.
Under the $282m agreement, the US will provide 29 T700-GE-401C engines including 24 installed and five spares, inspections, spare and repairs parts, and support equipment to Tunisia.
The deal will also include personnel training and training equipment, publications and technical data, US Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services.
The Tunisian Air Force’s over-water search and rescue capability will also be modernised.
The aircraft will be used to help Tunisia improve its humanitarian missions, search and rescue, medical evacuations, firefighting and maintaining the integrity of its borders.
