AAI Corporation has received a five-year contract from the US Air Force to provide meteorological system logistics and technical services to one of its bases.

Under the $47.5m contract, AAI will provide contractor logistics support (CLS) for the AN/TMQ-53 tactical meteorological observing system (TMOS).

The services will be provided to the USAF 84th Combat Sustainment Wing based at Hill Air Force Base in Utah as part of the first delivery order valued at $5.2m.

TMOS, used in areas near air force landing strips, provides weather data for planners and field commanders.

AAI will manage TMOS sustainment from its Ogden, Utah, location and provide 24/7 on-call assistance and management of remote supplies.

The contract will include 24-hour turnaround for US-based spares and repairs and 72-hour turnaround for international requests.

The company will also lead lifecycle analysis for TMOS assets, and make and implement recommendations for spares management and obsolescence planning.

These support and sustainment activities will include engineering modifications, sensor upgrades and other improvements.
