Airbus’ military arm, EADS, has delivered the first of five C295 transport aircraft to the Mexican Air Force.
Equipped with a palletised loading system and a medical evacuation kit, the C295 is a multifunction aircraft that can operate on short and makeshift runways.
The aircraft is equipped with modular avionics that can efficiently transport standard payloads such as cargo pallets, troops, airdrops and paratroops, as well as support medical evacuation, according to EADS.
The delivery of the second C295 aircraft will follow shortly and the air force will receive the remaining three by the end of 2010.
