Mexico has received five Bell-412 helicopters from the US, in support of its operations against organised crimes such as drug trafficking.
The Bell-412 helicopters will be used by the Mexican Air Force in its transportation and reconnaissance tasks.
Powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6T-3D Twin Pac engine, the Bell-412 helicopter has a rugged fuselage construction.
It also has wide-opening doors that can accommodate a forklift with 2t lifting capability.
The delivery of the Bell-412 helicopters is part of a US special programme codenamed Merida Initiative, approved by the US Congress in June 2008, to provide Mexico with drug-fighting equipment and training worth $1.4bn between 2008 and 2010.
